Australia Post Global Logistics
The Shipping and Tracking APIs can be used to create a shipment for Customers who have access to Australia Post Global Logistics (APGL) products.
APGL utilises a logistics network with commercial clearance so it is important to provide additional data to help us facilitate Customs Clearance – we send data to the destination Customs before the shipment arrives in the destination country to enable low-risk and low-value items to be pre-cleared by Customs.
Information required for Global Logistics
- Receiver email or phone number must be provided.
- Item Description should be describing the content(s) of the Article at a category level (e.g. sportswear; electronic appliance) for customs clearance.
- Parcel dimensions are required
- 'Commercial value' must be set as true.
- 'HS Tariff Concession Code' is optional to obtain concessions where applicable with destination Customs.
- 'Free Trade Applicable' is optional to describe whether the content is applicable for free trade; for example, most Australian made products that contain over 50% of Australian content are not subject to tariffs into New Zealand.
Commercial Clearance feature
When using APGL products, you must supply Commercial Clearance. Commercial Clearance is a shipment feature specified when creating a shipment. For more information see the shipment features page.
Business rules
- Incoterm refers to the type of agreement for purchase and shipping of goods internationally. We currently accept Delivered Duties Paid (DDP) and Delivered At Place (DAP) in this field.
- Currency code determines the currency of both the value of the items and the declared shipping costs for Customs duty and tax calculation.
- Declared shipping cost is the shipping you charge to your customer during the eCommerce transaction if any.
- "Buyer" details will be used for Customs Clearance and contacted to pay duties and taxes where applicable. The Receiver details will be used if the "Buyer" isn't provided.
Note: "Buyer code" is an optional field to capture any Customer ID or registration number related to the Importer of Record relevant for the destination country.- An offshore return address is required. If you do not have an offshore return address to use, you can use one of our Returns facilities.
